FAQ

Who should read this book?
Dying is one thing we will all do but in modern society today we have no preparation of what to expect or realistic portrayals in the media.  The vast majority of deaths are not like in the movies, fast and dramatic.  Most deaths are slow and the dying person sees death coming.  It helps to know what to expect and what things are normal.  This book is for everyone who is loosing or has lost someone they love and also for anyone facing the end of life themselves.  It can explain and answer many questions and guide you through the very human process of dying.

What makes this booklet different from other booklets about death and dying?
We have tried to condense the key things everyone standing with someone who is facing the end of life should know.  At the same time we try to offer practical advice about the management of the most common conflicts and issues.  It is brief but dense.  Transition does not gloss over death but offers a real world description and a multidisciplinary look at our universal fate.

It only takes minutes for life to end, why would you need to read about it?
For most people dying is not quick and dramatic.  Instead, it comes after a slow process which is unique to the end of life.  Knowing what to expect and understanding the things the dying experience will help you cope better.  Dying is a special part of life that can be rich and rewarding, if you are open to it and not frightened by the process.
